Match Reports

Fixture: Under 13s - Rangers vs. Rugby Town Colts

25th Sep 2011 at Woodlands school

Result: 1 - 3

Scorers: Josh Rapson

Man of the Match: Josh Clarke

I shall make no apology for the wording of this report. Thanks to the parents who let me know in advance that they could not make this fixture but I am dissapointed that on match day we found ourselves missing players who I expected to be there. We were victorious last season in both games against Rugby and I was hoping for another great game and 3 points to start us in the right direction. However the team had to be revamped and Josh Clarke stepped up to play in goal, this left us weaker in the center of midfield. I have to say Josh played fantastic and fully deserved man of the match not only for his attitude but also the way he kept us in the game. Josh Rapson and Sam Ratcliffe are forming a strong central defence and we were very unlucky to concede a goak from a corner, taken well by Rugby scoring with a header. We fought back and just before half time Josh Rapson equlized with a great strike from some distance. Half time 1-1.
We were straight away under huge pressure, we looked panicky and nervous on the ball. The effort Rugby put into being first to every ball eventually paid off and they score a further 2 goals in the second half. We will be looking for every player to step up and be counted both in training and on match day.

Fixture: Under 13s - Rangers vs. Coundon Cockerels

18th Sep 2011 at Coundon

Result: 0 - 1

Scorers:

Man of the Match: Aidan Rhodes

The start to this season has been a bit frantic with players leaving at the last minute and a need to de-register players who are unreliable ,so having managed to recruit some new faces we went to play Coundon Cockerels blind not having trained or played together. The game got going and both teams appeared to be well matched. Josh Rapson and Sam Ratcliffe formed a sturdy partnership in the middle of defence with Lewis Watson solid at right back. So with minutes to half time it was very disappointing to concede a goal after a brief laps of concentration in mid field.Half time we were 1 down. Aidan Rhodes came on for Jake Crook and gave Coundon problems down the left, so much so he earned himself man of the match. The second half ended with neither team finding the net. So after seeing the lads play yesterday we have potential to do well once they get used to playing as a team.
